Exchange old mobile phones for money
Exchange your old mobile phones for up to £150 cash!
Instead of leaving old mobile phones lying around the home or office, they can be traded in online, in exchange for money / cash or vouchers.
Companies that specialise in this area either recycle old mobile phones in environmentally-friendly ways or put them to good use elsewhere, such as in developing countries.
Generally, as long as an old mobile phone is in working order, it can be exchanged for money. Some companies even pay cash at reduced rates in exchange for damaged or faulty phones. You may also be offered more than the cash value if you exhange instead for vouchers (eg to spend at Argos).
Exchanging an old mobile phone for money is very easy and involves four main steps:
1. Find out how much cash you could get by exchanging one or more of your old mobile phones. To do this, go to a mobile phone exchange company's website and enter your phone's make and model online. (If you're not sure what model your phone is, dig out yourmanual or try looking under the phone's battery, where many manufacturers print model numbers). When you specify the model, they'll give you an instant quote for the cash value of your old mobile. We favour the following phone exchange company, which offers a choice of money or Argos vouchers for old handsets and has so far paid out over £4m to consumers in exchange for their old mobiles:
2. If you're happy to go ahead, book your mobile phone exchange by completing the process online. They'll then send out a pre-paid envelope and associated paperwork.
3. When you receive their pack, exchange your phone by sending it back to the company in accordance with their instructions. The cheapest option is usually to return it in their prepaid envelope by regular post. For higher value mobile phones, exchange companies may recommend using recorded delivery or another insured delivery service. Or if you're exchanging a number of mobile phones, they may even arrange for a courier to collect them from you, free of charge.
4. Once the company has taken delivery of and checked the condition of your phone(s), they'll conclude the process by sending you money (or vouchers) in exchange for your old mobile phone / phones.
Obviously, the longer you keep an old mobile phone, the less it will be worth. So the best time to exchange an old mobile is as soon as you've decided that you no longer need it.
Rather than use an exchange service, some people prefer to sell their old mobiles on eBay. However, online auctions can be unpredictable, with no guarantee of achieving any particular price. They also tend to involve significant effort on the part of the seller, as well as incurring seller's fees - and potentially also PayPal and postage costs.
In contrast, exchanging an old phone for money / cash or vouchers is a fast, easy and popular option.
