The BlackBerry 8820 offers Wi-Fi connectivity and GPS support alongside BlackBerry's traditional range of push email and call management features.
With GPS, the phone supports location-based applications like BlackBerry Maps®, which is pre-installed. A media player is also included, with a memory card slot for storing music and user content. Security features include a password option and keypad lock.
The 8820's direct controls are a trackball and QWERTY keypad with inset numeric keys. It also supports Bluetooth headsets and car kits, voice-based dialling and has a speakerphone.
The 8820 naturally supports instant messaging and instant / push email services from BlackBerry or other providers. The phone comes with a USB cable for synchronising organiser data like calendars and contacts with a PC.
