The BlackBerry 8700g smartphone supports push email along with web browsing and mobile phone functions. The quad band GSM phone has an easy to use, 35-button QWERTY keyboard with an embedded numeric keypad, indicated by white colouring on the dual purpose area.

When subscribed to BlackBerry's instant email services, the 8700g enables up to ten separate email accounts (business, personal or both) to be managed within a single inbox. PDF and other popular email attachments can be opened using supplied document viewers.

The 8700g offers convenience keys, which can be assigned functions by users. The smartphone also has dedicated keys for beginning, ending and muting calls. A speakerphone is included, along with support for handsfree use with Bluetooth devices. The 8700g offers polyphonic and MP3 ringtones, which can be assigned to contacts for easy caller identification. The phone has a keyboard lock and password protection and supports integration with corporate email solutions.
